Winner of the red dot design award in 2020 (one of the most prestigious international design awards in Germany), the Yamatsu Frustum ceramic tea set manufactured by Jinzangama is an elegant series with a matte finish that creates a modern impression while respecting the traditional Japanese form.
Inspired by the same truncated conical shape (called "frustum") as the other pieces in this collection (also available in the shop), the Frustum porcelain teapot is an understated and majestic work of art. Its brass handle, Made in Tsubame-Sanjo, it is at the heart of the design - a reference to the shape long seen in iron teapots originating from the Tohoku region.
Its unusual matte gray glaze and elegant geometric profile, designed in collaboration with Mag Design Lab founder Keita Hanazawa, perfectly complement a slightly rough texture that recalls the collection's earthy origins. Each porcelain piece is crafted from granite clay locally harvested in Toki, Japan, and fired in a 150-year-old kiln by master artisans. The teapot comes with a metal tea filter.
