Our story
I've always had a deep passion for Japanese culture. My three years spent in Tokyo, where I met my husband Shu, imbued my heart with the aesthetics and poetry of everyday Japanese life. Every street corner, every stationery store, every everyday object revealed a story to me, weaving a gentle blend of tradition and modernity.
By sharing these moments and my discoveries on my Instagram account and my YouTube channel , I sparked the enthusiasm of my subscribers and realized that they shared my affection for Japan. This is how the idea of creating Monoé was born, an online store that offers a delicate selection of Japanese stationery and objects. Between Amsterdam, where we reside with our two daughters, and Japan, which we visit regularly, our quest for the treasures of Japanese craftsmanship and aesthetics continues.
The name "Monoé" is also a reflection of this adventure, merging the Japanese word "Mono", which means "thing", and the beginning of my first name Noémie, "Noé", thus symbolizing the "things that I discovered".
We hope that my favorites will become yours too.
