Kakimori Nib - Brass

A brass nib, born from the desire to create a durable and pleasant-to-use tool. Designed by Yuto Yamazaki of Kuramae-based design studio Alloy, this innovative nib is the result of numerous prototypes. Its rounded and carefully polished tip offers a surprisingly fluid writing sensation for a metal nib.

Depending on the holding angle, it allows for tracing fine and precise lines or wide and expressive strokes — a versatile tool for calligraphy, drawing, and illustration. Brass develops a unique golden patina over time, while maintaining a firm and precise writing feel from the very first use.

Tilt the nib below 45° to vary thicknesses and create brushstroke-like effects. When the ink runs low, gently rotate the nib to draw ink back into the grooves. A single dip is enough to write a postcard-sized message.

Undecided between the copper nib and the brass nib? The copper nib gradually rounds with use for an increasingly fluid and personal stroke, while the brass nib offers a firmer and more precise feel for a consistent line.

Compatible with Kakimori pen holders and most other manufacturers. Recommended with Kakimori and Inkstand pigmented inks.
