Hobonichi Graph Notebook A6 – Tomitaro Makino: Japanese mountain cherry

The Hobonichi Graph Notebook faithfully reproduces the characteristics of the Hobonichi Techo — the same Tomoe River S paper, the same 3.7 mm grid — in an undated, free, and refillable notebook. Its cover is adorned with a botanical illustration by Tomitaro Makino, a Japanese botanist dubbed the Father of Japanese Botany. The drawing depicts the Yamazakura, the mountain cherry tree, and opens the first volume of his Flora Japonica published in 1900. Created during the Meiji era using magnifying glasses and microscopes, then traced with a mouse hair brush, this masterpiece of botanical precision illustrates the flower in its smallest details — petals, branches, internal structures.

Despite its 240 pages of Tomoe River paper, the notebook is only 8 mm thick. The color of the grid ink changes every 60 pages (red, blue, green, purple) to facilitate organization by theme or easily find old entries. In A6 format, it is compatible with all Hobonichi Techo A6 covers.

Ideal as a complement to a Hobonichi Techo, as a sketchbook, notebook, or for journaling.
