The Hobonichi Techo HON A5 is a bound planner with an integrated cover, evoking the feeling of a cherished book carried everywhere. Its sewn binding allows it to lie flat at 180 degrees, and its Tomoe River S paper pages — thin, lightweight, and particularly suitable for fountain pens — offer a smooth and pleasant writing experience without the risk of bleeding.

This edition is illustrated by Hiroko Kubota, a Japanese illustrator born in 1971 who uses acrylic gouache to depict landscapes, characters, and animals. Her cover "String Telephone Until the Moon is Full" portrays a gentle and changing sunset: a cat with closed eyes listens to a tin-can telephone, while a wolf responds with a tender expression. Along the string, a mouse goes back and forth on a unicycle, as if carrying their voices. In the background, a Ferris wheel slowly turns and a white crescent moon floats in the sky. The 2027 year and the HON logo on the cover and spine are printed in matte silver foil, which gently catches the light.

Each day has a full page with a fine 3.7 mm grid and a discreet hourly timeline on the left side for planning busy days. An inspiring quote appears at the bottom of each spread. The notebook also includes annual index pages, complete monthly calendars, and bonus pages: My 100, Favorites, a 365-day annual calendar, and a map of the Kanda/Jinbo-cho neighborhood in Tokyo.
